A former senior manager at L3Harris pleaded guilty to stealing eight high-value cyber exploits and selling them to a Russian exploit broker (Operation Zero) for cryptocurrency; he was sentenced to 87 months in prison and ordered to forfeit assets. The US Treasury sanctioned the broker, its related companies and associates under the Protecting American Intellectual Property Act for acquiring and reselling US cyber tools, noting the exploits were sold onward and could enable ransomware and other attacks, and estimated $35M in damage to US and allied intelligence interests.
