Raspberry Pi released the A4 stepping of the RP2350 microcontroller, addressing prior glitches identified in a hacking challenge (which required physical access), fixing a GPIO pull-up issue, and adding 5V-tolerant GPIO. The update includes support for self-decrypting binaries and hardened AES decryption with high resistance to side-channel attacks, with SDK v2.1 as the minimum for compatibility. A new hacking challenge is being launched to validate the side-channel hardening while aiming to avoid the need for another chip spin.
