VMware prevents some perpetual license holders from downloading patches

Broadcom’s changes to VMware’s support portal are preventing some customers with perpetual licenses and expired entitlements from downloading security patches, with support staff warning of delays (up to 90 days) before fixes are available; this increases exposure given multiple 2025 VMware security advisories, including critical flaws that can allow VM-to-host code execution. A Dutch court has ordered Broadcom to continue supporting a government agency for at least two years while the wider entitlement dispute continues.
