This report explains the risk of subdomain takeover in cloud environments, illustrates a notable NPM incident where an expired S3 bucket enabled malicious package distribution, and provides step-by-step detection and remediation workflows using Qualys TotalCloud/Flow (including downloadable QFlow templates) to identify vulnerable DNS records, extract bucket names, verify resource existence, and create IoCs and controls to prevent takeover and mitigate supply-chain and phishing risks.
