Let's Clone a Cloner - Part 3: Putting It All Together

This blog documents a multi-part hardware R&D project to convert a MaxiProx RFID reader into a mobile RFID cloning device: laying out components, soldering and installing a speaker kill-switch, integrating a 100W battery and PD triggers, adding standoffs and cable management, designing a DPST switch wiring scheme, and creating a mechanical slider to wake the battery. It includes practical range tests and Faraday shielding experiments (showing significant range reduction), and reports field testing failures due to target sites using HF/encrypted badges and RFID-blocking holders—highlighting both attack techniques and operational limitations.
