Redefining Identity Security for the Expanding Identity and GenAI Threat Environment by Vectra AI Product Team

This report argues that identity is the new center of enterprise attack surfaces and that traditional controls like MFA, EDR, and siloed tools are insufficient against modern identity-based threats spanning cloud, on-prem, and GenAI-enabled environments. It cites widespread identity proliferation, machine/service account blind spots, low MFA adoption, analyst alert fatigue, and attackers’ ability to bypass preventive controls, advocating for AI-driven post-compromise identity threat detection and response (ITDR) to deliver visibility and rapid containment across hybrid infrastructures.
