African cybercrime crackdown nets more than 1,000 suspects

Operation Serengeti was a coordinated, two-month international law-enforcement operation across 19 African countries that led to more than 1,000 suspects being detained and linked to approximately 35,000 victims and $193 million in reported losses; the operation targeted a range of cybercrimes including ransomware and business email compromise and involved Interpol, Afripol, national police forces, private-sector cybersecurity firms, and international partners.
