Adversaries’ generative AI use isn’t fooling the masses 

U.S. intelligence officials report that Russia, China, and Iran are using generative AI to produce influence content targeting the 2024 election cycle, but the quality of AI-generated material has so far been detectable and less convincing than feared; Russia is the most prolific actor, Iran and China have used AI in limited ways, and agencies are monitoring for improvements such as custom models or better dissemination that could increase impact.
