Authorities take down Cryptomixer, seize $28M in Switzerland

European law enforcement, as part of Operation Olympia, seized the Cryptomixer cryptocurrency mixing service—confiscating nearly $28 million in Bitcoin, three servers, the cryptomixer.io domain and more than 12 TB of data—alleging the service mixed over $1.5 billion since 2016 and was widely used by cybercriminals (including references to North Korean-linked Lazarus Group) to launder proceeds from ransomware, fraud and major thefts; the action complements prior takedowns of large mixers such as ChipMixer and aims to disrupt infrastructure that enables cross-border money laundering and cybercrime.
