Meta cracks down on millions of accounts it tied to pig-butchering scams

Meta announced it has removed millions of Facebook and Instagram accounts tied to cross-border "pig butchering" scam networks that recruit or coerce people into running investment scams and forced-labor scam compounds across parts of Asia and the UAE. The company described its multi-year enforcement effort — including designating dangerous organizations, targeted takedowns, product warnings, and collaboration with law enforcement and industry peers — to disrupt these campaigns that have caused billions in victim losses.
