Congress kicks the can down the road on surveillance law (again)

Congress approved a 45-day extension of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act to allow more time for lawmakers to negotiate reforms and for declassification review of a recent FISC opinion; the extension follows disputes over compliance findings, an appeal by the Justice Department, and competing House and Senate reauthorization proposals.
