Biden administration bans sale of Kaspersky software in US 

The Commerce Department announced a ban on Kaspersky Lab selling and updating its antivirus products in the U.S., citing national security concerns over the company’s ties to the Russian government; three Kaspersky entities were added to the entity list and the Treasury sanctioned 12 executives. Officials said the move follows a review that raised concerns the Kremlin could exploit the firm to collect or weaponize sensitive U.S. information, and the ban — including an update cutoff effective Sept. 29 — will prompt a U.S. outreach campaign to affected customers.
