Chinese national extradited to US for pandemic-era Silk Typhoon attacks

A Chinese national, Xu Zewei, was extradited from Italy and charged in the U.S. for his alleged role in HAFNIUM/Silk Typhoon, a state-directed espionage campaign that exploited zero-day Microsoft Exchange vulnerabilities to compromise over 12,700 U.S. organizations, steal COVID-19 research, and deploy webshells for persistent access; he faces multiple counts including unauthorized access, wire fraud, and aggravated identity theft and up to 62 years imprisonment.
