Acting CISA chief says DHS funding lapse would limit, halt some agency work

Acting CISA director Madhu Gottumukkala told Congress that a DHS funding lapse would severely constrain CISA’s cyber defense posture, limiting threat response and information sharing to only imminent issues, pausing strategic planning and capability development, and delaying binding operational directives and CIRCIA rulemaking; while some 24/7 operations would persist with a reduced excepted workforce, many services would halt amid broader budget conflicts.
