Researchers identified a new variant of the AcidRain wiper dubbed "AcidPour," attributed to Russian military-linked Sandworm (UAC-0165). The variant reportedly has expanded capabilities to wipe or target memory on embedded devices, and has been associated with disruptive outages against multiple Ukrainian telecommunication providers and Viasat-linked modems in mid‑March 2024; a pro‑Russian group (Solntsepek) claimed responsibility for some ISP disruptions.
