Robocalling task force bill advances in Senate

A bipartisan Senate bill, the Foreign Robocall Elimination Act, advanced from the Commerce Committee to establish an FCC-led public‑private task force to study and recommend actions against overseas robocalls, assess the effectiveness of the robocall mitigation database and STIR/SHAKEN, and provide policymakers with detailed insights into international robocall ecosystems; amendments would require carriers to post a $100,000 bond and register before transmitting U.S. calls and extend liability protections for companies sharing traceback information via the Robocall Trace Back Enhancement Act.
