Conti ransomware group member pleads guilty, faces up to 20 years in prison

A former Conti ransomware member, Oleksii Oleksiyovych Lytvynenko, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud after admitting he joined Conti in 2021, developed malware used in attacks, held data on multiple victims (including eight in the U.S.), and participated in extortion that affected hundreds of organizations; Conti is credited with attacking over 1,000 victims globally and extorting large sums (the FBI estimates over $150 million), and members later rebranded into successor groups following a 2022 leak and the group's disbandment.
