Organizations can now buy cyber insurance that covers deepfakes

Coalition announced it is expanding cyber insurance coverage to include AI-generated deepfake incidents—such as executive impersonation and reputational harm—along with forensic support, legal takedowns, and crisis communications. While deepfakes currently comprise a small share of claims compared to traditional vectors like exploited VPNs and phishing, the company’s IR lead warns that AI-driven voice/text impersonation is highly targeted and effective, and SMBs may face widespread AI-enabled fraud and BEC within 12–24 months.
