Bipartisan Senate leaders introduce bill to bolster telecom cybersecurity in response to Salt Typhoon hacks

Senators Mark Warner and Ted Cruz introduced the bipartisan Telecommunications Cybersecurity and Resilience Act to establish a working group that will develop voluntary, telecom-specific cybersecurity best practices and a third-party certification process within 18 months, motivated by the Salt Typhoon nation-state espionage campaign that previously compromised major carriers and siphoned political data.
