Online scam cycles are getting shorter and more effective, Chainalysis finds 

Chainalysis' mid-year crypto-crime update reports that online scams have become shorter, more targeted, and more effective: 43% of tracked scam revenues were sent to wallets created within the last year, and average campaign lifetimes have fallen from 271 days (2020) to 42 days (2024 YTD). Criminals are rapidly discarding social and on-chain infrastructure—using tactics like pig-butchering and purchasing seasoned social handles—to improve laundering and evade attribution, shifting toward smaller, faster operations that yield steady profits while reducing detection risk.
