Twins with hacking history charged in insider data breach affecting multiple federal agencies

Two brothers, former federal contractors Muneeb and Sohaib Akhter, were arrested for allegedly using privileged access at a government contractor to delete approximately 96 databases and steal sensitive files from multiple federal agencies (including DHS, IRS, and EEOC). The indictment alleges copying of ~1,800 EEOC files, theft of IRS records containing PII for at least 450 people, trafficking a password, wiping employer devices, and using an AI tool to attempt to clear logs; both face multiple federal charges.
