AI is causing all kinds of problems in the legal sector 

The American Bar Association’s recent report warns that while generative AI is streamlining legal work such as research, drafting, and evidence review, it also threatens the integrity of court processes through deepfakes, voice cloning, and misinformation that challenge the authenticity of evidence and public trust. Citing alerts from the FBI and CISA, it notes real-world issues like hallucinated citations in AI-generated briefs and ethical debates over AI-fabricated testimony. An ABA task force of judges is developing guidance on responsible AI use and addressing deepfakes as evidence, amid broader concerns about rising workloads and the susceptibility of the judiciary to digitally driven disinformation campaigns.
