Kentucky man gets 81 months in prison for cyber fraud to fake his own death

A Kentucky resident, Jesse Kipf, used stolen physician credentials beginning in January 2023 to access state death registries in Hawaii, Arizona, and Vermont and to infiltrate two vendor networks for major hotel chains; he created false death certificates to avoid child support, sold databases containing Social Security numbers and medical records to international buyers, caused tens of thousands of dollars in damages, and was sentenced to 81 months in federal prison.
