U.S. adversaries increasingly turning to cybercriminals and their malware for help

Google Threat Intelligence reports that major nation-state adversaries (notably Russia, but also China, Iran, and North Korea) are increasingly leveraging cybercriminal malware and ecosystems—examples include Russian military-intelligence-linked actors (APT44/Sandworm) using Radthief and Warzone—blurring lines between criminal and state operations and elevating cybercrime to a national security threat.
