US nationals sentenced for aiding North Korea’s tech worker scheme

The Justice Department sentenced two U.S. men for running a scheme that placed North Korean operatives in jobs at more than 100 U.S. companies via stolen identities and front companies, laundering over $5 million for the DPRK; the operation also enabled espionage, including theft of ITAR-controlled defense contractor files, and relied on laptop farms and complex financial flows to funnel wages back to North Korea.
