Google’s disruption rips millions out of devices out of malicious network

Google’s Threat Intelligence Group, with assistance from Cloudflare, Lumen’s Black Lotus Labs and Spur, disrupted IPIDEA — a China-based residential proxy network that abused embedded SDKs to turn millions of consumer devices into proxies for cybercrime, espionage and data theft; initial actions removed about 40% of the infrastructure but several million infected devices and usage by hundreds of threat groups remain active.
