Dismantling Smart App Control

This report analyzes design weaknesses in Windows Smart App Control and SmartScreen and demonstrates practical bypasses — signing malware, reputation hijacking, reputation seeding and tampering, and an LNK "stomping" MotW bypass — including public proof-of-concepts, VirusTotal samples, and disclosure to MSRC; it also provides detection queries and recommended behavioral detections for defenders to mitigate these initial-access techniques.
