Botnet of 17 Million Devices Dismantled in the Netherlands

Dutch authorities, assisted by the National Cyber Security Centre and a security researcher, dismantled a massive botnet of at least 17 million compromised devices that operated as a residential proxy service linked to ASOCKS; investigators seized more than 200 servers in the Netherlands, disrupted the infrastructure, and noted earlier ties to Proxylib and malicious Android apps that enrolled devices without consent.
