Coupang announces $1.17B compensation plan for 33.7M data breach victims

Coupang disclosed a data breach that exposed personal information for approximately 33.7 million customers after unauthorized access beginning on June 24, 2025; exposed data included names, emails, phone numbers, shipping addresses and some order histories but reportedly excluded payment data and login credentials. The company said stolen data was recovered, a former employee was identified as a suspect, and Coupang will issue vouchers totaling about 1.685 trillion won (~$1.17B) to affected users.
