Meta accused of violating DSA by failing to safeguard minors

The European Commission preliminarily found that Meta’s Instagram and Facebook may be in breach of the Digital Services Act for failing to adequately prevent or remove users under 13, citing easy bypass of age checks, weak reporting processes, incomplete risk assessments, and design elements that may harm minors; Meta can respond to the findings and faces potential fines of up to 6% of global turnover if breaches are confirmed.
