CISA pushes Federal agencies to retire end-of-support edge devices

CISA issued Binding Operational Directive 26-02 directing U.S. federal civilian agencies to inventory, report, and remediate end-of-support edge devices (including firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, wireless access points, IoT edge devices, and SDN components) within 12–18 months to reduce cyber risk; agencies must update or replace unsupported hardware and strengthen asset lifecycle management while CISA monitors compliance and encourages similar measures for non-federal organizations.
