Scattered Spider member Tyler Buchanan pleads guilty to major crypto theft

Tyler Buchanan, a 24-year-old linked to the Scattered Spider cybercriminal group, pleaded guilty in the U.S. to participating in coordinated SMS phishing campaigns, credential-harvesting phishing sites, and SIM-swap attacks that enabled the theft of at least $8 million in cryptocurrency from individuals and breaches of dozens to potentially hundreds of organizations; law enforcement in the U.S. and Spain seized devices, arrested suspects, and several co-conspirators have been charged or sentenced.
