Mysterium VPN scanned the public internet and found at least 21,786 live camera feeds and recorders streaming with zero authentication—largely on cheap, legacy devices and via RTSP—exposing homes and businesses to voyeurism and potential automated compromise; the report warns this is a lower-bound figure (excluding devices reachable only by guessing defaults) and recommends setting passwords, disabling UPnP/RTSP, updating firmware, or removing unpatchable devices from the internet.
