US Bitcoin ATM operator Byte Federal suffered a data breach

Byte Federal, a US Bitcoin ATM operator with over 1,200 ATMs, disclosed a security breach after attackers exploited a GitLab vulnerability to access a company server. The incident potentially impacts approximately 58,000 customers and may have exposed sensitive personal information (names, DOBs, addresses, phone numbers, emails, government IDs, social security numbers, transaction activity and photos). Byte Federal shut down its platform, isolated the attacker, secured the server, forced a hard reset on customer accounts, updated internal credentials and is investigating with external cybersecurity assistance while advising customers to monitor for fraud and reset credentials.
