UK NCSC warns of Russia-linked hacktivists DDoS attacks

The UK NCSC warns that Russia-aligned hacktivist groups—most notably NoName057(16) and other pro‑Russia collectives—are conducting persistent DDoS attacks against UK local authorities, critical national infrastructure, and operational technology. These ideologically motivated campaigns leverage botnets, DDoS-for-hire tools and exploitation of poorly secured VNC/OT systems; while generally low in sophistication and often mitigated, they pose a continuing risk of operational disruption and potential physical impact in sectors such as water, energy and food supply. The NCSC urges organizations to adopt DDoS protections, harden OT systems, and prepare response plans.
