Google Launches New Android Security Features to Fight Scams, Theft

Google detailed a broad set of Android security and privacy upgrades planned for 2026 (Android 17 and backports to Android 11+), including real-time "verified financial calls" to block bank scams, expanded Live Threat Detection and dynamic signal monitoring, Intrusion Logging for forensic investigation of spyware, stronger anti-theft measures, finer-grained location and contact privacy controls, AI security protections, OS/build verification, and measures to protect one-time passwords. These are defensive feature rollouts rather than reports of an active cyber incident.
