Apple Begins Rosetta’s Final Phase as Intel Mac Era Winds Down

Apple announced that macOS 27 will be the final release to include the full Rosetta translation layer and that macOS 26 is the last major release compatible with Intel-based Macs; macOS 27 will require Apple silicon (M1 or newer) and will drop feature support for several older Intel models while offering security updates for three years. Developers have one final major macOS cycle to migrate Intel apps to native Apple silicon, after which only a limited Rosetta variant focused on legacy, unmaintained games will remain.
