Coupang to Pay $1.1 Billion in Compensation to Users After Data Breach

Coupang disclosed a large personal data breach affecting about 33.7 million accounts; in response the company announced a 1.685 trillion won (~$1.1B) compensation program in vouchers for impacted current and former users, acknowledged leadership changes and regulatory scrutiny, and said it coordinated with authorities to recover leaked data while asserting the information was not distributed or sold.
