AWS Data Centers Hit: Drone Strikes Cripple Cloud

AWS reported that drone strikes damaged two facilities in the United Arab Emirates and one in Bahrain, causing structural damage, power outages, and water damage from fire suppression that disrupted services including EC2, S3, and DynamoDB; recovery may be prolonged and partial restorations can cause intermittent errors. The report advises affected organizations to treat the situation as a live disaster-recovery event: verify zone and regional dependencies, confirm off-region backups and replication, prepare DNS and traffic-steering controls, define reduced-function safe modes, and ensure incident and access processes work under degraded conditions.
