AssuranceAmerica Data Breach: 6.9M Driver’s License Numbers Exposed

AssuranceAmerica experienced a breach dating from March 17 that exposed driver’s license numbers for 6.9 million customers along with names, contact details, insurance policies, claims data, and some Social Security/Tax ID information; the company detected the intrusion, disabled compromised systems, investigated through June 15, and began notifying affected customers in July, while limiting disclosure on the exact access method beyond saying an employee was targeted.
