Meta Launches Free Facebook Verification Badge for Personal Accounts

Meta has launched Facebook Verified, a free identity verification feature that asks eligible users to submit a short video selfie which is compared against existing profile photos to confirm accounts are human-operated. The feature is separate from paid verification, is rolling out gradually for users 18+ who meet community standards, excludes Pages and Professional Mode accounts, and raises privacy concerns about collection and handling of biometric identity data.
