An unprotected Elasticsearch instance named "Sauron" storing approximately 215 million pseudonymized Amazon Prime Video viewing records was discovered exposed to the internet. The dataset included streamed content, device type, network quality, and subscription status; it was detected by Shodan and reported by security researcher Anurag Sen, remained accessible for weeks, and was secured by Amazon after notification, who said the exposure resulted from a deployment error.
