Cryptojacking

This document provides an overview of cryptojacking—unauthorized use of an organisation's computing resources to mine cryptocurrency—explaining how it works (cloud-based, malware-based, and browser-based techniques), the operational and financial impacts (performance degradation, increased costs, reduced hardware lifespan, and security exposure), and recommended defenses such as advanced endpoint security, cloud workload monitoring, vulnerability management, network/performance monitoring, user training, and managed detection and response.
