Hackers Use Residential Proxies Networks to Evade Detection

Infoblox telemetry analysis finds pervasive use of residential proxies across its customer base—more than 65% of customers queried proxy-related domains and monthly DNS queries to those services grew to over 500 billion by April 2026. The report highlights operational risks including the Kimwolf botnet leveraging residential proxies within enterprise networks, the erosion of IP-based attribution, and large volumes of noisy alerts; it recommends mitigations such as Protective DNS, DNS log audits, app and IoT inventorying, and coordination with specialist trackers.
