Pegasus Spyware Hacked European Parliament Member Investigating Spyware Abuse

Citizen Lab forensic analysis found that Stelios Kouloglou, a sitting Member of the European Parliament investigating spyware abuses, was repeatedly infected with NSO Group’s Pegasus spyware via a zero-click exploit chain abusing Apple HomeKit and iMessage (iOS 15.5) in October 2022 and March 2023; the timeline aligns with key PEGA Committee activities and includes an identified IoC ([email protected]). The report highlights successful silent compromises, missed Apple threat notifications, attribution uncertainties, and recommends urgent forensic screening, strengthened device protections, and coordinated EU investigations to protect democratic oversight.
