Google Introduces Advanced Ransomware Defense and Recovery Features in Drive

Google has moved its advanced ransomware detection and file restoration features for Google Drive out of beta to general availability, powered by an updated AI model that claims to identify 14× more infections. The announcement details core capabilities—automated ransomware detection that pauses syncing, dual notifications, and bulk file restoration—as well as licensing requirements, client version requirements (Drive for desktop v114+), and admin controls for enabling or disabling protections at the OU level.
