Opera Browser Adds Native Paste Protect to Stop Clipboard Hijacking and Code Injection Attacks

Opera rolled out "Paste Protect" (enabled by default on July 2, 2026), a browser-level defense combining existing Hijack Protection and a new Injection Protection engine to detect and block clipboard tampering and command-injection social engineering (such as ClickFix). The feature analyzes copied content across Windows, macOS, and Linux using heuristics to block suspicious shell/PowerShell/encoded commands, shows a 120-character preview and warning, and includes usability options like "Hold to Copy" and trusted-site whitelisting to balance security and developer workflows.
