Microsoft Introduces Teams External Collaboration Administrator Role 

Microsoft is introducing a new Teams role, **Teams External Collaboration Administrator**, rolling out from late January to mid-February 2026, to delegate management of external collaboration and federation without full Teams admin rights. The role can create/manage External Access Policies, control allowed/blocked federated domains, is managed via PowerShell only (no portal), cannot be scoped to Administrative Units, and must be assigned by global admins via Entra or Microsoft 365 admin centers. Organizations are advised to update internal policies and training, identify appropriate assignees, and prepare communications; no immediate action is required before rollout.
