Kill Bill C-22: Says Civil Society to Parliament

A coalition of 25 rights and privacy organizations, including researchers from Citizen Lab, delivered an open letter to Canadian government leaders urging the full withdrawal of Bill C-22 (the Lawful Access Act). The letter warns the bill would enable extensive government surveillance by requiring providers to record and retain detailed metadata for up to a year and to build surveillance backdoors, potentially weakening privacy protections and expanding police access to personal information.
