Mirai Internet of Things Botnet Linked to Internet Outage | Flashpoint

Flashpoint analysis confirmed that at least part of the large-scale DDoS attacks against managed DNS provider DYN were launched by IoT devices (cameras, DVRs, etc.) infected with Mirai malware; the report notes these botnets were separate from earlier Mirai attacks and that the Mirai source release has enabled other groups to build similar botnets.
